Past Events

2018- We were fortunate enough to play a game at the SAP Center in San Jose against the South Bay Packin’ Heat public safety team. We raised several thousands of dollars to help the West Coast Post Trauma Retreat, an inpatient facility specializing in helping first responders who suffer from job related PTSD.

2017- After taking a break during a very busy 2016, we came back strong with a benefit game for a four year old Cloverdale boy with leukemia.  This young man showed us unbelievable courage in the face of a terrible disease, and we are honored to have helped he and his family during that time.

2017 – The October wildfires left massive destruction in their wake, and our beloved home rink was almost part of the loss. We knew we had to do something to support our community as a whole. The Sharks Alumni Foundation reached out and offered an All Star cast of retired NHL and International greats who came to Santa Rosa to play our team of First Responders in the Bay Area Fire Relief, presented by Kaiser Permanente. On that unforgettable night in December, we raised over $40,000 and split it between the Santa Rosa Firefighters’ Toys For Kids program, the Mark West Youth Club Little League, Bikes for Firestorm 2017 Victims, and Speedway Children’s Charities.

2015- Our second game of the year benefited the sports and activities programs at the Middletown Unified School District in Lake County, CA.  After the Valley Fire tore through their community, the school District was faced with a vast shortage of resources to give students access to music and activities after school.  We were excited to help get them back on their feet in their darkest hour.

2015 – In our first game of the year, we partnered up with the Oakland Fire Department’s Ice Hockey Team to raise funds for the daughter of one of their firefighters.  The little girl was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare and dangerous bone cancer.  Although very ill, she and her family were able to attend the game, our first ever in Vacaville.  Through the support of the region, we made this our biggest fundraiser to date.  We are happy to report that she has beaten the cancer and is now back to being a regular kid.

2014 – Having experienced an acute medical condition while off duty, a Santa Rosa Police Officer was our third honoree.  With our help, the Officer and his family were able to rest a little easier as he recovered.

2013 – After being diagnosed with an ailment that sidelined him from regular duty status, a Sonoma County Sheriff’s Deputy became our second honoree.  The Deputy and his family were able to use our assistance to help during his recovery while he was off work status, and he has since returned to full time duty.

2012 – With support from the Santa Rosa Junior College hockey team, we were able to assist the family of a Santa Rosa Fire Captain. Captain Cagle suffered a sudden and debilitating medical condition that ultimately cut his firefighting career short.
